" Poppy red the blood,
drains from our memories
as we stand up to honour all of those who’ve fallen.
Best we forget the horror in the eyes
of those who’ve fought before
so we can justify our need to sell more arms
to wage more wars.
We have learned little from the lessons
that each November we remember;
every other month and day we’re fighting.
We live in peace in our own land
but still send soldiers, guns in hand,
to fight for every battle that we’re writing.
Our arms trade is our biggest export,
what our economy is build for!
Yet we neglect to see why so many have died.
So if we really seek to honour
those who’ve lost their lives in horror,
we’d strive for peace to best remember their demise.
‘Cause there’s no profit to be made
whilst we continue to trade,
weapons that claim to shelter us in safety.
Because the safety we now need
is from the governments own greed:
I see no reason why in our name
these wars should not cease to be!
